A glimpse at the process of a page
Dusk County is Canceled script to colored page, and Stake Presents: Jessamy Vol 1 Kickstarter continues!
It’s hump day!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!
I thought this week it would be fun to show the process of taking a comic page from script to colored.
Here are two pages from the upcoming Dusk County is Canceled written by Joel Rodriguez and myself, with art by Roman Gubskii!
We provided Roman with a script and he asked us a few questions and we were off to the races.
As you can, on this page we let Roman flex his muscles and gave him fairly free reign to do what he wanted…here were the results in pencils:
And here is the fully colored version!
How about another?
And here are Roman’s pencils:
And the colored version:
When creating comics there can be a varying number steps to page creation depending on the creators involved. Sometimes for pages like this, there may be another step after the pencils called inking, which would be more defined with solid lines prior to adding color. In this instance, Roman colors his own work, so he went straight from pencils to colors.
The final step will be adding letters (which Joel will do prior to our campaign launching).
Speaking of, you can follow the campaign for Dusk County is Canceled on BackerKit.
And while we’re on the topic of campaigns…
The Stake Presents: Jessamy Vol 1: Château de Sang et des Fleurs campaign ends tomorrow night at midnight EST!
We’re around $11,000 and looking to unlock the next stretch goal at $12,500.
Come check it out if you haven’t yet!
Did you like seeing a glimpse at the process of making a comic page? What else would you like to see or learn about?
Let me know!
Until next time!
