A new personal experience and some comic stuff
I tried something new last week and I kinda liked it...
Good morning you fantastic people!
It’s me again, that’s right, I’ve made it four weeks in a row with a post! I’m really getting back into the swing of this.
A little personal tale
Before I get to the writing stuff this week, I wanted to talk about a new experience I had last week and give you a small glimpse into my personal life.
I’ve been toying with intermittent fasting for most of the year and it’s been pretty good for my health (when I follow it)…in all, I was down about 30 pounds in a four month period, but things had plateaued a bit and I have been hovering for months.
Last Monday my girlfriend texted me and said we should fast, so I said sure, when? Start now, she said. So I said ok and we were off. She’s done this before so we already had a juice on hand to detox and reset our digestive systems and were ready to go.
I had no idea what to expect. I did the detox, religiously drinking the juice every hour for 2 days. I drank plenty of water. I actually did some rigorous workouts, and to my surprise…didn’t get hungry!
After two days of detox, I was officially fasting. I thought for sure I would be starving or losing my mind. But you know what? It wasn’t bad at all. I was a little tired, but I was pretty clear minded and felt good. The biggest test was going to lunch with friends and watching them eat delicious burgers and fries, but I was strong and did fine.
Last weekend I had some friends coming to my house for a fantasy football draft (which I killed by the way), so I wanted to be able to enjoy some of the delicious food we had (including green curry with beef from the girlfriend). I ended up breaking the fast 98 hours after I last had solid food. I felt good and could visibly see that I was slimmer. I would totally do this again and actually lost 10 pounds! *if you plan on trying something like this, please make sure you are in good health and consult a doctor first!
Personally, I have a little ways to go to get where I want to be physically, but I love a good challenge. Being struck with long COVID for over six months last year really made me want to get back into good shape and I’m well on my way.
Now back to our regularly schedule creative talk!
That escalated quickly. A few weeks ago I shared the Rising Sons mission statement, now I give you Hospice.
This is a unique cross creator concept coming soon to Kickstarter from 6 different creators with 6 different campaigns.
Ours is called Skin Deep:
Skin Deep is a 26 page all new story in the Hospice universe. Our story stars exotic dancer Sarrah, who goes by the stage name Lamia. Sarrah is known for her mesmerizing dances that leave patrons in a state of euphoria when she performs.
Where ever Sarrah goes, trouble seems to follow and handsy men tend to get hurt. There's more to our nomadic lead in this story though. Ever since she was young, children have never been safe in her presence and she can never seem to stay in one place for too long. When her latest run-in puts her on the move again, Sarrah settles into a new town with a new problem.
As we approach the campaign, I’ll provide some wonderful art for you and a link to follow along!
For now we’re running the Canceled II campaign over on Kickstarter and could use your help!
We’re around 85% after 1 week and have a few weeks to go!
Won’t you come get Canceled with me?
Thanks for bearing with me this week and listening to me ramble about my fasting experience. Maybe next week I’ll tell you about our hike in the woods :P
Til then, I bid you adieu!
