I can’t believe it’s already March!
March is significant for me, it’s my birthday month. This particular March is even more significant, I’ll be turning 40. I’m not sure how that happened, but here it comes.
I’m not really big on celebrating, but this is a milestone birthday, and I’m going to do some reflecting.
I think I can say, I’m pretty happy with this first 40 years and where I am in my writing career. Could I be further along? Sure, but I have very few regrets and really wouldn’t change a thing. Everything that happens in our lives makes us who we are…so this is me, for better or worse.
Some great things are going on right now in that life, with Stake, Stake Presents: Jessamy, and my newest project Canceled.
Stake Vol 1 - Tear My Heart Out is officially in stores!
I got to do an in-store signing at the Collective in Altamonte Springs, FL (shout out to Danny Morales for always supporting indie creators) a few weeks ago to celebrate the release (and their store exclusive cover) and had a lot of fun hanging out with letterer/production guru Joel Rodriguez and cover artist Sabien Willis.
The book is now out in comic shops nationwide and is going to be available in bookstores on March 29th. If they don’t have it on the shelves at your local book retailer…tell them to order it!
You can also get it on the Scout Comics website RIGHT NOW!
The book is beautiful and Francesca’s art is worth the price of admission.
Stake Presents: Jessamy #2 is fulfilling soon!
Francesca is nearly done with the art for Stake Presents: Jessamy #2, it looks amazing so far. If you missed out on this or Issue #1, you can still pre-order for the next few weeks. Francesca is a saint for putting up with my crazy layouts and still putting out single panels like this:
We should be going to print later this month, so get in now if you missed out!
Stake #1 Metal is live on Scoutcomics.com!
If you're a fan of Fredy Bardales art, which you know I am from all the covers I've had him do, you'll want to check out the limited metal edition of his Stake #1 Scout cover.
They're limited to 50, with much less than that available on the Scout site. <Click here to get it!>
David Byrne’s Canceled is coming soon!
Ok, not too soon, April 20th, but time is running out for you to tell your shops to pre-order copies. The last chance for shops to pre-order is March 20 (Lunar) and March 21 (Diamond). Don’t know what Lunar and Diamond are? That’s okay, your shop will!
Of course it will also be available on Scoutcomics.com, along with this amazing exclusive by Eranaga Devasurendra:
There are a lot of amazing retailer variants for this book because it appears people love creepy clowns and killer kids, who knew!?!
Here’s a 5 page preview if you’d like to check it out!
He’s Back, Baby!
I’d like to close this newsletter with maybe the most important piece of news…
John DiMaggio is back for Futurama’s new season!
“I’M BACK, BABY! So damn grateful for the love and support of fans and colleagues alike during this whole time (especially my wife, Kate), and I cannot wait to get back to work with my Futurama family,” DiMaggio said. “#Bendergate is officially over, so put it on the back of a shelf behind Xmas decorations, or maybe in that kitchen drawer with all of the other crap you put in there like old unusable crazy glue, or maybe even put it in a jar you save farts in. Whatever floats your boat, I don’t care, you get the picture. I’M BACK, BABY! BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!”
Let us rejoice!
Until next time…
David
