2025 sure did sneak up on me, but I’m glad it’s here!
Last year was not a particularly good one, with a lot of unfortunate happenings in my personal life, capped off by a head injury that left me physically and mentally broken.
I managed to pass out on December 27th while getting out of the shower and smashed my face on the floor. I got a doozy of a wound that’s probably going to leave a Harry Potter-esque mark on my forehead for the rest of my life. I will spare you the images here, but you can check a few out on my Facebook here.
I was barely able to accomplish anything, couldn’t drive, and was experiencing pretty wicked vertigo for about a month before the wonderful physical therapist my doctor referred me to performed vestibular therapy on me and set me right!
Apparently, we have “crystals” in our inner ear that negatively impact our equilibrium when knocked out of alignment. Who knew? Well, that miracle therapy fixed my issue in ONE SESSION (results may vary).
Now I’m back to life as it should be and playing catchup, but it feels good to feel right again.
So what’s David up to these days? Just a little ole convention known as…
The convention is back again, hitting Orlando this weekend, Thursday 2/6 through Sunday 2/9 (Super Bowl Sunday, grrrrr, but also GO BIRDS).
I’ll be tabling as usual in Artist Alley at booth A1.
This year we have an exclusive reprint of Stake #1 celebrating 5 years of Stake, with a cover by fellow Megacon attendee Sukesha Ray (who happens to be at table AF1 - I call that kismet).
If you’re at the show stop by and get a copy with trade dress (limited to 50) or virgin (limited to 25) and get it signed by both of us!
King Raven Publishing
Last thing for this update, we'll call it a little bonus announcement... you may have noticed the trade dressing looks a little different on that Sukesha cover above…
After 10 years of W.i.N Pictures, I'm rebranding the company to King Raven Publishing going forward, with this being the very first book to feature the new company's logo!
The decision didn’t come easy to leave W.i.N. Pictures behind, but the time is now. The W.i.N. name isn’t going away; it’s just changing as I expand the printing business I started.
Say hello to W.i.N. Press - and as the name suggests, we’ll continue to do Whatever is Necessary.
I know at the end of every one of these very infrequent updates I say there’s a lot going on and great news to come. Well, it’s always true, I’m just terrible about sharing them here!
I’ll try to do better as I catch up on a missed month.
See you back here soon…maybe…hopefully…I’ll try.
Love you all!
David
